We are successful due to our approach and the way we constantly strive to build on the networks we have and understand the property landscape and the issues constantly affecting the industry.
Almost half of Australia’s GLA, shopping centre assets and retailer numbers are located outside of metropolitan areas and in QLD, 49% of total GLA, retailer numbers and asset numbers are located in areas outside of Great Brisbane. Retail is having it tough and traditionally, by in large, regional areas have been overlooked when it comes to adopting a specialist focus on recruiting quality, industry specific professionals to our regional hubs which in turn for landlords, has a knock-on effect to the performance and success of these assets.
We set out to change this approach and to demonstrate our commitment to the industry we went the extra mile and brought ‘The Grand Tour, Queensland’ to our clients and candidates! This was a unique candidate and client engagement initiative which involved us visiting every shopping centre asset in Queensland above 10,000sqm or assets with an on-site centre management team. In addition and where possible, we also visited other smaller Neighbourhood/convenience centres located in the vicinities of our main tour trail and all in all, this initiative so far has seen us visit well in excess of 200 shopping centres over the course of the year and meeting over 150 clients and candidates and leaving with them, our famous ‘Grand Tour Coaster’ ! This was no mean feat and has seen us cover Queensland as far South as Coolangatta, as far North as Cairns and as far East as Mt Isa!
We did this to demonstrate our unrivalled commitment to the industry, raise our profile and feed our continuous enthusiasm to be recognised as well informed industry experts, not just in the shopping centre space, but the wider property industry in general.
Unlike our competitors, we don’t spend all of our time sitting behind desks, searching online platforms for candidates and sending CV’s and being just another faceless recruiter! We feel it’s important that we get back to basics with what our role is and ongoing, meet as many people and visit as many assets as we can, including all major regional hubs across Australia. Our journey has been well documented and has been a huge success.
